Safety Committee

In light of several recent home break-ins and car thefts in Lincoln and surrounding towns, a Safety Committee is being formed at BRF to address these as well as other safety issues impacting the welfare of our residents. Participants are needed.

Topics such as protecting our condos from theft and fire, street lighting, addressing the health hazards of Hanscom air pollution, and protecting the health and welfare of BRF seniors and children will be discussed, among other topics. Participants can zero in on those safety topics that interest them.

We need to become a tighter community where we can help each other as well as the trustees by tapping into the creative ideas of its residents.  BRF offers us so many good things, but as the community ages and expands and the world changes at an alarming rate, we need to protect ourselves and each other.

The first meeting will be held in the meetinghouse during the second week of September on Tuesday, 9/12 or Thursday, 9/14, the exact date to be determined.  Interested residents can email Leslie Kilgore at phleoches@aol.com

Your ideas will be encouraged and respected!

Invasives Removal

Battle Road Farm consists of 24 acres of land, much of which is wetland and wooded areas. That land requires maintenance, especially with respect to the remediation of invasive plants. In 2021, a real push began to clear the wetland and a few wooded sites on the property of plants such as bittersweet, porcelain berry, buckthorn, barberry, multiflora rose, knotweed, Callery pear, tree of heaven, and garlic mustard. It has only been a couple of years, but the results of those efforts have been amazing! Native plants like grapes, goldenrod, blackberries, jewelweed, and Eastern enchanter’s nightshade are growing in abundance in the spaces where the invasives once forced them out.

Please join the effort to restore the property to a healthy ecosystem. Advertisements for special efforts will be posted periodically (e.g., garlic mustard in April). But efforts are ongoing all year round, so if you’re interested in helping out, please reach out to our property manager Marcia Good at mgood@firstrealtymgt.com.
